To be honest, if you are trying to develop large muscles, you had best limit your cardio (basketball would count as cardio). That is not to say that you can't play at all. It's just that you don't want to burn your calories doing cardio. You want to use your calories to build muscle. You need to eat a lot, lots of protein. Good healthful natural foods. Get lots of sleep and drink lots of milk.

If you're doing weight training, you should be leaving 24 hours between doing the same part of you body again. Your muscles really need that time to recover, even if you don't feel it. In the meantime, doing cardio, like basketball is a great way to keep yourself in shape and keep your muscles active.

You're fine to play ball. It'll probably help you kick some of that soreness also (the movement will purge lactic acid from your system).
